Hunt Doctors

Dr Plante's Spring Turkey

We received a super note from Paul Plante M.D. of the Hunt Doctors today:

“I have sat my rear on a lot of hard knotty dirt over the years but these seats are without a doubt the best I have ever used bar none. ”

We found about about the Hunt Doctors website doing research.  We are adding a link to the articles on their site http://www.thehuntdoctors.com/articles.html  The site has been under construction.  This is a nice resource for hunters needing a medical reference to some of the common problems we encounter - we wish them the best and look forward to more good information being posted.

This Side Up

Hunt Comfort seats are designed to sit with the brand tag label up.  Once you can read Hunt Comfort on the sewn in label then you are ready to sit down and relax.  You can sit on the bottom side if you like - we know that over time the topside is a whole lot easier to enjoy.  You can easily get to know which side is which before your take to the woods (and it’s dark) - with FatBoy and Climb-On you can feel the gel contact layer and on the Fatboy Lite and Climb-Lite you can tell simply by softness.  Get to know the upside.

Product Care

We received a note about product care.  We include product care notes with the warranty of every cushion.  Here are the latest recommendations for product care:

Hunt Comfort Cushions are built to exacting standards of durability, yet we recommend that you bring in your cushion at the end of the day.  This simple step keeps your cushion in good shape for many years of hunting.  At hunting shows, Hunt Comfort is often asked about leaving cushions in the stand overnight, and our routine answer is this question: When you get to your stand, do you want to have to swipe the dew or brush the frost off of your seat? In addition to causing excess noise, it’s a task we don’t want you to mess with up high in the stand and in the dark. You also need to consider critters.  Raccoons are notoriously curious, and a cushion is a tempting challenge.  Varmints can tear apart and sometimes carry off good equipment.  Take care of the gear that takes care of you.

Waterproof. Comfort-TEX fabrics are waterproof however our seams are not.  It takes a lot of water – immersion and some pressure to get the cushion’s interior wet.  Water is not going to pass through Comfort-TEX because it’s laminated.  If you immerse your cushion (goose hunters), simply hang it to dry.  Your Hunt Comfort cushion is built with high grade materials, and the foams are built with odorless biocides - antimicrobial, antifungal agents that protect it from the effects of moisture.  Keep your seat dry.

Cleaning.  We recommend cold water and a rag to clean your cushion.  Do not machine wash.  A little soapy water is fine.  Hang dry.  Do not machine dry.

DWR.  Our fabrics are Teflon DWR (Durability Water Repellency) treated.  DWR finishing provides water repellency.  Teflon adds durability to fabrics and prevents soiling.  Over time, DWR finishes wear off in high-use areas.  We’ve tried products designed to renew the DWR and have found Granger’s Tent dressing to be an effective product.  It’s odorless and does not require a washing treatment or heat activation to work.  Granger’s is available at full-service camping stores. Give us a call if you can’t locate this product.

Holes or tears.  Call Hunt Comfort for Warranty Assistance 888-757-3232.   Laminated fabrics are heat sensitive.  Do not hot patch with an iron.  Prolonged exposure to heat may compromise the laminate.

Renewing DWR

Every fabric finish we have tested will wear out with enough use.  A fabric can be waterproof on one side and wet on the other.  THe DWR finishes help water bead off and help keep fabrics clean.  We had the question asked “what would you use to renew the DWR finish on a cushion after a few seasons?”  Of all the products we have tested, Granger’s is the product that we like the best.  It works well and is available at most camping stores or Cabelas.  It is odorless and easy to use and is reasonably priced.  Developed in the U.K. Granger’s has a number of products for clothes, etc. - for a cushion use the tent and awning spray.

Driving Cushion

I received an e-mail about using our seats for driving - lots of driving.  We have had this question quite a few times.  What do I recommend…I thought about this last night as I sat on my John Deere equipped with an AllGel.  AllGel’s are made as a dealer demonstration pad.  Look toward the bottom of this page:

http://www.huntcomfort.com/products.htm

Yesterday’s response was this:  We have a dealer who drives quite a few long hauls and he uses our Classic.  We have a salesman locally who had us make an AllGel custom and he loves it.  Drives a ton on it.  I drive a lot and right now I am driving on the 1 inch Intelligel top top of our I-Core.  Comfort is excellent.  The gels in each of these products are super at relieving pressure, they help dampen the vibration and the gels quiet down road feedback that you feel in your backside over those long hours behind the wheel.  Our office can get any of these choices out.  888-757-3232.
