Hunt Comfort has not had any new quilts for over a year now as Mae Lane’s mother passed away. We have many people ask about them and we simply have not had any – this has always been a fun thing for us. We have found two quilts that were made in 2006 or before by Mae and her mom. These are among the very earliest quilts – the fabric is definitely pre-2004 or before our move to Evergreen. We have not built product with this fabric in many years. Fabric is early Mossy Oak pattern and quilt colors are dark. These would be great around the cabin or the campfire after the hunt. These quilts are handmade and one of a kind. Sizes are approximate.

When we make Hunt Comfort products, we try and keep it in the USA. A couple of parts we use are simply not available in the USA. Sometimes it seems surprising to us that our products are constructed with so many different things made by good people all across our land. Hunt Comfort has also introduced 2 New Camo Solid Colors: Coyote Tan and Foliage Green. The request for solid outdoor colors came from many customers – especially international customers. Customers save $5 per cushion without the licensed camo. The solution dyed fabrics are very handsome and feature matching Mil Spec hardware. These are perfect for ballgames and camp. Here are a couple of recent designs that presented some interesting challenges:

This is a large triangular hang-on stand seat that is built using two FatBoys for maximum coverage.  This cushion is big and it sits great. 

This is a split cushion design.  Unique to the cushion design are rounded edges on both inside top cushion surfaces.  Cushion is based on the FatBoy.

The video conferencing experience delivers a new level of communication for Hunt Comfort’s customers. While frame rate is dependent upon band width, live video gives Hunt Comfort the ability to show details and explain concepts visually and instantly.  Video conferencing allows Hunt Comfort to deliver a fuller customer service experience, and thanks to Skype this service is available at no charge. 

Anyone with a free Skype account can access this service. Customers without a web cam can still view the Hunt Comfort representative in real time from a computer with a Skype account.   Service is by appointment.    

Hunt Comfort FatBoy Lite has been awarded the Best Hunting Cushion in Outdoor Canada’s Best New Gear Awards for 2009.  The awards are the cover story of the latest issue of Outdoor Canada magazine.  We are honored to be selected as Hunting’s Top Gear 2009 by the hunting editors of Outdoor Canada who review a vast array of products from over 1,800 vendors at the SHOT show and end up with 35 of their absolute favorites.

Hunt Comfort tests all of the issues brought up by Russ.  Quiet fabric, for example, is one our our 4 design criteria for our ComfortTEX fabrics.  We appreciate the fact that Russ allowed us to respond to his concerns prior to the publishing the article.  Thank you – Russ.  All of the concerns mentioned are actively focused on at Hunt Comfort. 

One concern that we could have elaborated on with Russ was the gel and extreme cold.  Bottom line is that we work to minimize adding heat or taking heat away.  We actually have had feedback which told us the opposite on the FatBoy and the cold – take a look at this earlier BLOG post: http://blog.huntcomfort.com/WordPress/2007/11/05/hunt-doctors-note/ .  We are constantly working to improve our products and we rely on feedback for design.  Our business is built on listening.      

Our cotton based ComfortTEX has a Teflon DWR finish applied to the face side and it is laboratory tested.  These DWR finishes are meant to repel water – so if you put a new FatBoy out in the rain you will see water beading off the cushion.  DWR finishes wear off in time (and DWR can easily be renewed) but a DWR’d fabric by itself is absolutely, positively not waterproof.  Most of our stores have fabric samples so you can touch and see the backside of our fabrics.  This photo shows classic beading effect after rain.

We have to make design choices and Hunt Comfort’s ComfortTEX is built for outdoor seating.  Waterproof, Durable, Quiet and Stretch Comfort – that is what we build.  The cotton ComfortTEX is a superquiet fabric and it gives a super nice soft sit.  We figure that the cushion fabric has to take care of the hunter and the business of hunting first.  If you are on wet ground your pants are not going to get wet from the cushion and the cushion core is fine.  So keep hunting and don’t worry about the cushion – we take care of the folks who take care of us.  We are constantly working to improve our ComfortTEX outdoor seating product.
